Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto - Summvs (9 May 2011)
I'm working to put together a complete discography for Ryuichi Sakamoto, or at least as complete as I can---so far I'm up to forty-two albums. But in the mean time I wanted to release something, so I chose one of my favorite albums from the collection I'm putting together.
Summvs is the fifth collaboration between Ryuichi Sakamoto and German muscian Carsten Nicolai, better known as Alva Noto, outside of his film scores. Summvs is a fairly experimental, abstract ambient album. It's dissonant, deconstructed, minimalist, and sonically built atop a wobbling foundation. However none of this is to say the album is bad; as I said, it's one of my favorites. But the album is very much abstract ambience.
If you like artists such as Ametsub, TVC15, or Zaion then you will probably like Summvs. As always my friends, enjoy the music!
