Learn Japanese through song – a song every day for a year, with lyrics
This is a torrent containing 366 Japanese songs and lyrics for them in Japanese – one for every day for an entire year. Most of the music is rock, psychedelic or folk, but there's a wide variety. The majority of it is pre-2000. Almost all the songs have a male singer, because I wanted something I could easily sing along to. Sorry ladies!
I've included two simple scripts for Linux users: one loads today's song and lyrics and adds the song to a “learnt songs” playlist, and the other loads the lyrics for the song that is currently playing in vlc. The scripts require vlc and leafpad, and will require editing with the correct path to the song directory on your system.
The lyrics aren't all 100% accurate. Some of them have been taken from Chinese websites, so there might be unfamiliar kanji in a few cases, or other small errors. So if you find something you think is wrong, you might be right.
The songs are named by date, but ID3 data for artist and track name are intact. The file “filelist” in the main directory contains an ID3 dump. For anyone not sure if they'll like the music in this collection, it'd be best to download that first.
