The BDBOX of GA-REI -zero- is made by a plain up-scale from DVD, with very strong artificial noise. This dictates the pre-processing to be done in 3 steps:
1. inverse-upscale the BD into 720p, since it makes no sense to keep 1080p resolution given the source is originated in SD. 2. fix the edge artifacts such as aliasing, and then perform some slight edge-sharping, in order to retain better visual quality. 3. remove the colored film grain but keep the luminous grain intact, this help to reduce the file-size as well as improve the visual quality.
For the screenshots below, we used non-ringing lanczos 4 method to upscale the BDRip into 1080p, in order to make a fair comparison with the source.
10bit 720p AVC + FLAC, MKV format, ~600MB per EP.
