Project notes: Another one of those works that has never been released on DVD, yay! Fortunately, it was released on laserdisc, and fortunately I own them.
This 1997 Studio Deen series was, unfortunately, a bomb when it originally aired in Japan, so of course Bandai thought it would be a brilliant idea to sell it in North America under their short-lived and ill-fated “Animevillage” subsidiary. Of course, they also thought it was brilliant to do a VHS-only release when DVD was on the rise. No marketing geniuses there, I guess.
The good news is that somebody captured those old VHS tapes, and while they look like ass it means that scripts exist. Its just that somebody will have to sit down and transcribe them, unless somebody can manage to OCR them. It won't be me, that's for sure.
Enclosed are filtered x264 conversions from my laserdiscs (NOT the animevillage VHS), as well as untouched DVD conversions. Also, just for fun, I scanned the laserdisc jackets and inlays, so I've included those as well.
