Encoding Note:
When we did this HEVC version, we intended to make the quality level the same as the 8bit version, But later we found the HEVC version gets slightly better, in terms of less artifacts like DCT-Ringing and color-banding.
The overall file-size reduction is about 20%, or 25% if non-video contents are discluded. Considering the minor quality difference, it can be concluded from the test that currently for high-bitrate anime BDRip, 10bit HEVC saves ~30% bit-rate comparing to 8bit AVC.
This agrees with our previous test that 10bit AVC saves 15% versus 8bit, and 10bit HEVC saves another 15% over 10bit AVC. Be advised to note that these figures only hold true when you are using similar parameters and pre-processing, leaving the encoder as the only variable.
