You allways can do fast checking of the song for a upconvert using simple Foobar2000 visualisation "Spectrogram"; here are examples of the spectrograms of the lossy/upconvert-or-fake-lossless and the real-deal audio tracks (the first one from the *****kan release a couple of days ago):
