Genki Rockets is the creation of Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Kenji Tamai. It is a concept band, centered around vocalist Lumi, an eighteen year-old living in the year 2023 (born 11 September 2019 on the International Space Station). Lumi has a desire to visit Earth, a place she’s never been, and this is reflected in the band’s lyrics. The vocals for Lumi come from two people: Rachael Rhodes and Nami Miyahara. The former provides her visual appearance, both on CD releases, music videos, and in concerts where the band uses large-screen projection, along with costumed DJ’s to hide their identities.
The album bleeds happy sunshine and rainbows; it’s that kind of J-Pop. But its synth melodies are infectuous and its too easy to leave this album on repeat longer than you anticipated. If you liked the music of Lumines and Child of Eden then you’re going to like what you find here—and not by coincidence. ::wink::
Enjoy everyone!
(Still look forward those albums Abunja. Hoping this isn’t another Melting Holidays thing….)
