I rarely upload more than one album per day, but I came across Viva! La Woman while trying to find another CD and decided to upload it. Some ten or eleven days ago I uploaded Stereo ★ Type A, the band’s second and final album. So I am not going to repeat the things I said there.
Viva! La Woman is Cibo Matto’s debut album, an eccentric, schizophrenic collection of songs. Almost every song makes reference to food, an act which is itself a reference to the band’s Italian name. To be honest, Stereo ★ Type A is the better of their two albums. But the chaotic experimentation and lyrical turbulence of Viva! La Woman give it a quirky charm. The album is also notable for containing the only song in which Miho Hatori sings in her native Japanese.
I plan to upload something else tonight, but since I uploaded Cibo Matto’s other album I felt like I ought to round things out by providing their debut. Enjoy!
