Dustbox is a pop-punk band who made their start in 1996, playing in clubs around Saitama. It began via the efforts of Suga, the lead vocalist and guitarist, who would quickly recruit his friend Joji to play bass; other musicians cycled in and out of their live line-up during this time. It would take them four years to grab the attention of a studio label, which is coincidentally when Reiji joined dustbox as their drummer, establishing the three-person line-up that dustbox has kept since 2000. Their tendency to use English contributes to their pop-punk sound, which is a lot more melodic than punishing, but it also makes dustbox one of those Japanese bands whose music is easily accessible to people who have absolutely no understanding of the Japanese language.
