Ar nosurge, full name Surge Concerto: Ar nosurge ~A Song that Prays for a Planet Being Born~ (アルノサージュ ~生まれいずる星へ祈る詩~ Arunosaaju ~Umareizuru Hoshi e Inoru Uta~) is a 2014 role-playing video game for the PlayStation 3 developed by Gust. It is a continuation of Ciel nosurge released in 2012, and also a prequel to the Ar tonelico series. The game was released in North America on September 23, 2014 and in Europe on September 26, 2014, under the title Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star. A PlayStation Vita version has been announced, titled Ar nosurge Plus.
After the release of Ciel nosurge in April 2012, Gust introduced a new gaming genre: the 7-dimensional RPG. Now the series director, Akira Tsuchiya, continues his opus with a new, deep and robust world. A world where songs are magic, and emotions are strong enough to form bonds. AR NOSURGE: ODE TO AN UNBORN STAR is a story of love, emotional bonds and the frailty of existence.
"AR NOSURGE takes a step outside the existing concept of games, and I have no doubt that it is an RPG that will give players a surprising fresh look into the genre," said Akira Tsuchiya, Ar nosurge Director at Gust Ltd. "To elaborate would spoil the story, so I hope people will play the game to personally experience this. I think that players will develop a strong connection to the world of Ar nosurge, and the characters will become as treasured as real-life friends. It really brings us much joy when our games are played by people around the world so if there are players that are moved by AR NOSURGE, please spread the word and hopefully your friends will decide to experience its world for themselves as well!"
In AR NOSURGE, the player follows two sets of characters: Delta and Casty, whose goal is to protect humanity and save the world, and Ion & Earthes, who are trying to find Ion a way home to Earth. The player can interchange between both pairs and soon discover a way to combine their storylines and strengths to eventually solve the mystery that shrouds their ongoing struggle.
