The subtropical island of Amami Oshima lies 1,300 kilometers south of Tokyo. It's a world of sparkling coral reefs, rich virgin forest and amazing natural landscapes. Kinsakubaru forest tour
About 80 percent of the island is covered with subtropical woodland. The primeval forest of Kinsakubaru lies at around 300 meters above sea level. Visiting it is like stepping back in time into a Jurassic Park.

Mangrove tour
Amami Oshima is one of the few places in Japan where visitors can actually get to see Mangrove trees close up from canoes.

Amami Kaiyo Museum
Amami Oshima is famous for its sea turtles. Every year they swim to the shore to lay their eggs. At the Amami Kaiyo Museum, visitors can examine the turtle close-up.
